I know you wouldn't know it from the weather, but according the calendar it IS summer. I know many teachers out there are interested in finding something to do with their child for just this short time.
Well, there is a package for teachers. You pay for the membership for the time that you're available. Contact Stephanie for more details. Goto www.strollerfit.com/parsippany to see other news about strollerfit.

5K Season is Upon Us
Well, yesterday was the Denville 5K, benefiting the Morris Knolls Baseball Diamond club. There were quite a few Strollerfit members who participated. For some it was their first race, and other were veteran runners. For everyone, it was a great day for a race.
It was a wonderful day that started out with registration. Then 9:00 hit and the runners took off. Some jogged, some ran, and some even walked. There were runners of all ages, from the young (sitting in strollers -- Go Teddy!) to the old, (they're someone's Grandma). Some ran competitively, and some (MEEE) ran to finish. Whatever their 'story' was, it was a beautiful day.
Speaking from my own personal experience, Strollerfit has helped me in so many ways. Last year I was able to complete the 5K race in 45 minutes. ( I can't believe that I put that in print). But this year, after another whole year of working out, of getting stronger and faster, I was able to complete the same race in 35 minutes. 10 whole minutes shorter!!!! Eating right and exercising regularly has helped me in so many ways. And it can help you too.
Now, I need to find the next 5K to run. Maybe I can beat my 35 minute time.
Congrats to Stephanie, Faith, Lindsay, Johanna, Michelle, Sarah for completing the Denville 5K.

Power of the Positive
The Power of positive thinking is amazing. At this time of year, sometimes it can be the only thing that keeps you on track; on track for fitness and nutrition.
Strollerfit is an amazing group of women who come together for a variety of reasons. Some are interested in reducing stress, dealing with postpartum depression, to get to a new level of fitness, and some come to be social. For whatever their reasons, these women, with their children, all come with a positive spirit.
As we we go forward with our health and fitness goals we need to remember the great resource we have with our instructors. Strollerfit is pleased to welcome two new instructors, AnnMarie and Lisa. We look forward to learning from you and pushing ourselves to higher levels of fitness.

Great recipe -- Greek Omelet Cups
Strollerfit it about a well-rounded lifestyle. That includes nutrition too. here is a recipe from Strollerfriends
Ingredients:
Eggbeaters, Spinach, Red Peppers, Fat-free-Feta cheese
Directions:
Pre-heat oven to 350
Combine 2-2.5 cups of eggbeaters, diced spinach, diced red peppers and several tablespoons of fat-free feta cheese. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
Spray a 6 muffin tin with Pam Cooking Spray.
Pour Eggbeater combo into tin.
Place in oven and cook for approximately 20-25 minutes or until the eggs are no longer runny on top.
They will rise like muffins
These are great to put in a Tupperware container and heat up in the microwave for breakfast every morning.
Exercising is so important to a healthy lifestyle, but you also need to fuel your body. What are your favorite healthy recipes?

Why now?
This time of year is so hard. Part of you wants to get active because of your New Year's resolution. But when the thermometer says 11 degrees, its very easy to not want to do anything.
Now is the time to get moving. In order to keep your body AND mind in shape you need to make the committment to get out and get active.
Strollerfit is expanding. Today was the first session located at the Rockaway Mall. A little different format but it keeps things fresh. We'll incorporate using the mommymuscle bar and bands and tubes, which is provided to you.
And as always, the first class is always free. Check us out. There is no committment, just check us out and keep an open mind!

Mom's Night Out

One of the perks of participating in Strollerfit is Mom's Night Out (or MNO). Last Thursday, Leah hosted an evening of fun at Sogo in Denville, NJ. We all met at 7:00 at the bar area while we waited for our table to be ready. Then we got the sign that we were all set.

We went to the back where the hibachi tables were set up (did I mention that we went out for Hibachi?) We all settled into our seats and began unwinding after a long day.

MNO are an opportunity to get out WITHOUT our cherubs. It gives us a chance to be people rather than moms who are always watching what the little ones are getting into. It seems like as they get bigger, so does their desire to "explore".
These once-a-month rituals are a time to get dolled up and show everyone that "Yes, I do own clothes other than tee shirts and sweat pants."
As our food was prepared to a culinary delight, we sat around making new friends and remincing about old ones. We talked about our kids and ourselves, but mainly about our kids. Its funny how the conversations always seem to gravitate back to the children. But that's okay, isn't that what we all signed on for?

After dinner was done (and Leah got her birthday cake), we decided to keep the night going by going to South City Grill for another round.

MNO gives you a chance to remember what life was like before the children came. But then you get to go home and see your baby's face and know that by taking a little time for yourself, its makes you a better mom!
